Dan Ferguson has over thirty years of experience in higher education, non-profit management, health care and human services. He has a real interest in organizational culture and change management.
In Dan’s current role as the Director of the Washington State Allied Health Center of Excellence, he is working to assist the community college system in understanding and adapting to the health care workforce changes due to the affordable care act.
Key Roles of the AH COE
- Act as a broker of information and resources related to our targeted industry for industry representatives, community-based organizations, economic development organizations, community and technical colleges, secondary education institutions, and four-year colleges and universities.
Ensuring a Continous Pipeline of New Healthcare Professionals By:
Creating and expanding career opportunities in the health care industry.
Providing system coordination,, coaching, and mentoring to assist in building seamless educational and work-related systems.
Collecting, sharing, and disseminating allied health information and best practices.
Researching, analyzing and disseminating information related to training capacity, skill gaps, trends, and best practices within the allied health sector to support a viable new and incumbent workforce. .
Working closely with industry partners to ensure healthcare programs meet their needs and current industry standards
Addressing skill-related training needs and upgrading skills within the existing workforce.
Serve as partners with various state and local agencies, regional, national, and global organizations to support economic vitality and competitiveness in Washington’s driver industries
Acting as a broker of information and resources related to the Allied Health industry for community-based organizations, industry representatives, economic development organizations, community and technical colleges, secondary education, and four-year colleges and universites.
